Common Name : Shaggy buttonweed Family : Rubiaceae Habit : A procumbent herb with a stout taproot. Stem : Quadrangular, hirsute, hispid or subglabrous, usually with long internodes. Leaves : Leaves subsessile, 1.3-5 cm long and 0.8-2 cm wide, oblong or elliptic, apex acute, scabrid, pubescent or nearly glabrous with scabrid or ciliate margins. Flowers : Blue, pale mauve or white, 4-6 together in a whorl within a stipular cup. Fruits : Capsules 5 mm long, hard, usually hairy, ellipsoid, rounded at both ends. Seeds: 3-4 mm long, oblong or ovoid, ventrally grooved, granulate, brown.
