Realizing the importance and foresightedness of the Karnataka Govt., his famous the Governor of Karnataka has sanction the foundation of the University of Horticultural Sciences (UHS) at Bagalkot through an exceptional Ordinance No 2 of 2008 dated: 22-11-2008. Along these lines, the selective University of Horticultural Sciences came into being with impact from 22-11-2008 at Bagalkot.
The decision of Bagalkot is the as headquarters of the University which is rightly justified in view of two reasons in particular, the rich green generation base of grapes, pomegranate, sapota, fig, lime, sweet lime, ber, assortments of vegetables, flavors and restorative plants: Apart from this, the mainly bordering areas of Belgaum on West, Dharwad and Koppal on South, Bijapur on North and Raichur on East are the center point of agriculture as a result of the good atmosphere for cultivation trims in the zone. The one of the Second reason behind this, direct result of the area of chronicled spots like Badami (cavern sanctuary and capital of Chalukya Kingdom) Pattadakallu, Aihole (the spots known for sanctuaries of stone models) Kudalasangama a focal point of religious lecturing and instructing, and the relentless Alamatti Dam as a spine for farming/agriculture are arranged inside of the range of 50km from Bagalkot.
Development of Horticulture provides one of three important key features of the University. To meet the empower technical requirements, a three tier-architecture of education is drawn the complete features-
· To start the certificate and diploma courses and provide the complete research education based on Horticulture University.
· Plan the experiments in M.SC. or PH.D Horticulture students works in this environment.
· Select the important, location based, friendly approach which would be easily adopted by the farmers at large scale.
· Placement of the students in Horticulture Industries fields for skills development.
· To expose the farm students for exposure and provide the economic use of resources by attaching the students in 2-3 months farms courses.
Research Approaches
There are the Following six approaches which framed to conduct Horticultural Research in the University.
· Coordinating the investigation at University/Colleges by staff and, M.Sc. (Hort.) and Ph.D. understudies.
· Coordinating the investigation at Horticultural Research Stations on order crops.
· Coordinating ordinary data and agriculturists practice based investigation.
· Driving howdy tech research specifically concentrates on specific boondocks domains of science.
· Driving on property research for support, modification and advancement of new advances on farmer's fields with participatory mode.
· Coordinating research through All India Co-ordinated Research Projects (AICRP's) on specific harvests.
At the end, totally attempted, refined and all around showed compelling developments alone will be given to fundamental accomplices. These six varieties of investigation structures will go about as supplement and compliment to each other.
