Narmada district is tribal dominated district with 78 % tribal population. The 89.9 % of the population resides in the villages and depends on Agriculture. The district is blessed with fairly good amount of well distributed rainfall varying from 800 to 1100 mm. The district has 40.31 % cultivable land with 43.33 % irrigated land. The major crops of the district are Cotton, Pulses, Paddy, Banana, Maize and Sorghum.  The two blocks namely Nandod and Tilakwada enjoying prosperity with good irrigation facilities and crops but the blocks Sagbara and Dediapada having only 22.01 and 7.66 %, respectively, land under irrigation, so they have to rely on monsoon season. Further, due to undulating land of Dediapada and Sagbara, cultivation of crops and water storage is difficult. The poor economic condition of the farmers and fragmented land holding are other major constraints. The adoption gap between recommended technology and farmers' practices are wide enough. The extensive efforts for transfer of agricultural technologies and water conservation are only the way to bring prosperity in the area.
