Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya is one the famous Agricultural University, set up by West Bengal Act XX of 2000. It started working from first February, 2001. It was established up by the state legislature of West Bengal as a satellite ground of the State Agriculture University at Pundibari of Cooch-Behar distrctin 1979. It was set up in light of the fact that the six northern districts of West Bengal viz., Cooch Behar, Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling, Malda, DakshinDinajpur and Uttar Dinajpur, had low efficiency. What's more, in that capacity there was a need to increase plant crop production in these regions. The Indian Council of Agricultural Research authorizes the campus and began expanding the development support. At the appointed time duration, National Agricultural Research Project (NARP) was presented making Pundibari, the head-quarter of the Terai-agro climatic zone of West Bengal. To improve the horticulture facilities, the state government redesigned this grounds to an undeniable State Agricultural University in July 2000 covering the whole North Bengal. It offers various under graduate, postgraduate and doctoral projects in the field of Agriculture, Home Science, Veterinary Science and Fisheries Science.
To reach the Pundibari, it is simple. At Pundibari, there is only Head-quarters and district head-quarters is situated at Cooch Behar which is 15 Km approximately. By bus, by road or either by airport, you can reach it there, but you have to travel few Km to reach it here.
There are various facilities in University, that includes the library, hostel, workshops, seminar rooms and also you can found the best Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Cooch behar.
