Over 2500 years ago, Indian farmers had discovered and begun farming many spices and sugarcane. It was in India, between the sixth and fourth centuries BC, that the Persians, followed by the Greeks, discovered the famous “reeds that produce honey without bees? being grown.

Cumin (जीरा)

Cumin is known as “Jeera” in local or Hindi language. It is Rabi crop. It is showing in October to November. It is required 20 to 30°C for its production. It is cultivated in dry and cool climate. Well drain soil is best for its cultivation. India is major Exporter in world. Rainfall and bad weather is affected its good production. It used in medicine and use in spice in all over the world.

Area of Cultivation –

Cumin is cultivated in China, Tajikistan, Iran, India and much other country. In India, it is cultivated in Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh (M.P.).

Sowing –

Cumin is sowing in well-drained soil and it takes 3 to 4 month for harvesting. Cumin is sowing in October to November and it harvested in February to March.
