Groundnut (मूंगफली)

Groundnut मूंगफली is a crucial oil seed plant appropriate for cultivation in exotic areas of the globe. Groundnut is the third largest oil seed created in the world and second largest in India. India occupies the second position in regards to production and first in terms of area.

Although, the groundnut plant is adaptable for vast climatic disorders, it needs 16 to 20 degree Celsius for germination, a long and warm and comfortable expanding period extends blooming. High temperature levels result in the best efficiency in terms of length of the stem, number of blossoms and number of capsules.

The crop matures in 95-105 days and bears 35-40 pods per plant. About 40 kg of seeds are required for sowing in an acre.

Area of Cultivation:

Groundnut is expanding the cultivation in the Spring Season. It requires a long and warm growing season. For growing the groundnut, most favorable conditions is well distributed rainfall at least 50 cm for growing season.Proper sunlight and relatively warm temperatures must for cultivating the Groundnuts. It seems that plant will grow best when the temperature is from 21-26.5 degree centigrade.

Mainly Kharif crops are expanding during June to September in the Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. In southern east regions, it’s grown as Rabi crops during the season of October to March.

To grow a seeds, the row to row distance is kept 30-45 cm and 5 cm depth behind the plough.
