University of Agricultural sciences is an premier institutions of agricultural education and research in the country,started as a agricultural farm in 1899 on 30 acres of land of area gave by Her Excellency of Maharani Kempa Nanjammanni Vani Vilasa Sannidhiyavaru, the Regent of Mysore and designated Dr. Lehmann, German Scientist to start research on soil crop reaction with a Laboratory in the Directorate of Agriculture. Later under the activity of the Dewan of Mysore Sir M. Vishweshwaraiah, the Mysore Agriculture Residential School was built up in 1913 at Hebbal which offered Licentiate in Agriculture and later offered a confirmation program in farming amid 1920. The School was moved up to Agriculture College and finally started the 4 years of Agricultural college.
University of Agricultural sciences an autonomous Institute was established on 6-6-1963. The UAS was inaugurated by the Dr Zakir Hussain, the Vice President of India on the 21st Aug 1964 in the august presence of Mr Chester Bowles, the then US Ambassador to India and Sri S Nijalingappa, the then CM. In 1969: Smt. Indira Gandhi, the then Prime Minister, inaugurated GKVK campus on 12th July.
The University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore known as UAS (B) has the main campus at GKVK, Bangalore. UAS provides the various teaching campuses at Hassan, Mandya, Shimoga, Ponnampet and Chintamani.The University, in addition to main campus at GKVK, Bangalore, has Colleges in five teaching campuses, offering graudate and post graduate degree programme in seven disciplines and diplomas in five disciplines in agriculture and allied subjects, 13 disciplines at Ph.D. level.
The complete University has well developed Research infrastructure which is consists of 21 Research Stations in that 6 Zonal Agricultural Research Stations (ZARS). The University Extension gives administration through Extension Education Units, Krishi Vignana Kendras, Farmers Training Institute, Staff Training Unit, Bakery Training Unit, Agricultural Technology Information Center and Communication Center covering Development and Communication of Farm Information; Farm Advisory Service, Farm trials and showings, Village selection, Training of expansion specialists, farmers and farm women in addition of logical diaries and other literature.

The University of Agricultural Sciences has two campuses at Bangalore which is located on the Bangalore-Hyderabad National Highway No.7 with its main Headquarters at Gandhi Krishi Vignana Kendra that is popularly known as GKVK Campus and Hebbal Campus.
The University of Agricultural Sciences provides the best hostel facilities which include the 7 hostels for boys and girls at Graduate and Postgraduate students. UAS offers the various facilities which is related to sports, library, staff residential, travel facilities, laboratory, medical, distance learning courses and many more.
Objective
The main objective of University of Agricultural Sciences is to provide the teaching in the agricultural education, research the important fields in the animal husbandry and fisheries and foster at conceptual advances in all disciplines which runs in long basis.
